Alembik has been recognized as an advocate for victims of wrongful foreclosure. He is regularly consulted or hired to defend against wrongful foreclosures around Georgia. And, he regularly lectures to state- and national audiences on real-estate-related litigation.
In addition to his av® rating and seven-year Super Lawyer® status, testament to Alembik’s effectiveness is his having won multi-million dollar jury verdicts and having litigated, arbitrated and mediated many hundreds of other legal disputes to successful resolution.
Alembik’s most satisfying professional accomplishments, however, have been those that did not get into the courts or the headlines: Negotiated resolutions that avoided litigation and preserved constructive business relationships.
A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Drew University in New Jersey, Alembik went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia School of Law where he was elected to be the Executive Editor of the GEORGIA JOURNAL OF INTERNATIONAL AND COMPARATIVE LAW. Alembik has studied at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, the Université Libre de Bruxelles, the Hague Academy of International Law, and the United Nations Secretariat. While in law school, Alembik was elected to chair the International Law Students Association of the American Society of International Law.
Alembik has published several articles on issues of corporate, tax, tort, and contract law. He regularly lectures on various legal topics at continuing legal education seminars, and to other non-legal organizations. He has made TV appearances as a legal commentator, and provided consultation on state legislation to Georgia legislators and study groups.
In addition to practicing law in the Atlanta area, Alembik has worked at law firms in London, England and Paris, France. Alembik speaks English (native), French (bilingual) and Spanish (proficient). Although he has been an admitted lawyer since 1991, Alembik has been working in the legal field in various capacities (courthouse runner, law clerk, legal assistant) for almost 40 years.
Alembik is admitted to practice before all trial and appellate courts of the State of Georgia, the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia. The National Association of Consumer Advocates, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, DeKalb County Bar Association, Lawyers Club of Atlanta, and Real Estate Section of the State Bar of Georgia count Alembik as one of their active members.
Alembik is a third generation Atlantan and second generation Atlanta attorney. He is the sixth member of his immediate family (of seven) to practice law in Atlanta. Alembik attended and graduated from the Westminster Schools in Atlanta.
In addition to raising his two children, Alembik’s personal interests include competitive swimming, spectating volleyball, reading nonfiction, and studying military history.
